Cindy Sanyu Reveals Why UMA Has Been So Quiet

The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president and dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu has spoken about the association’s silence. She said there is only one reason that has been stopping them from moving forward with their work plan.

UMA has been in existence for almost seven years. Cindy is the one president who has served the longest. Other presidents were resigning a few months into the office. Although Cindy has served the longest, many people claim she hasn’t done anything for artists.

Last year Eddy Kenzo came out and formed a federation known as the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF). It has been more active, engaging different stakeholders.

The BET Award winner even met President Museveni himself and talked about what artists need to be more successful.

Recently Kenzo called out UMA questioning their intentions. He said they haven’t done anything to help artists.  According to Cindy, it is not true that they haven’t done anything. She said they have a very good plan but money is the only thing holding them back.

The UMA president said artists who know them know how they have been working and what they have achieved on behalf of other musicians.

“We as UMA have our work plan that was forwarded. We just need it to be financed and we move on with the plans,” she said.
