A former White House official who resigned earlier this year offered to help someone who has a similar position as him in the Biden transition. Another ex-Trump official told reporters that the secret outreach demonstrates prioritizing the country over partisanship.
The outreach was confirmed by a current Trump official who said that the conversations so far are still informal. However, they are meant to help the Biden administration’s transition into the White House. He said this is nothing that would get them into trouble, but an offer to be of help.
An aide to Biden said they welcome any help. A senior Biden advisor also acknowledged the outreach to reporters. The aid however declined to comment on the matter when reporters asked him.
The efforts come in contrast to President Trump and his allies, who according to reports have been making the transition difficult. The Biden team is having difficulties accessing resources that are typically for a president-elect.
Trump has continuously touted about election-related conspiracy theories including election fraud, voter fraud, and issues with mail-in voting. These claims, however, have all been disputed by experts.
As the president enters his third week refusing to concede to Biden, his lawsuits filed by himself and his supporters are all crumbling.
