Denis Omedi Scores FIFA PUSKAS Contender Goal As Kitara Beats KCCA FC

Uganda Cranes and Kitara FC forward Denis Omedi scored an absolute beauty as his side ousted KCCA FC from the FUFA Super 8 tournament.

Many Ugandans are already hyping the goal as a contender for FIFA’s Puskas Award. This is an award given to the best goal scored in a season all across the globe.

KCCA’s Joel Sserunjogi beat Kitara’s goalkeeper, Crispus Kusiima from a distance to give the Kasasiro boys the lead in the 9th minute. However, Denis Omedi didn’t let the celebrations at the MTN Philip Omondi stadium last long as he scored a beautiful rabona goal.

Omedi neatly controlled a long ball given to him and rounded off KCCA’s defender, Hassan Mahmood to score this wonderful goal.

In the 36th minute, the Royals took the lead as Omedi now turned into goal provider for Jude Semugabi.

KCCA however leveled matters just before halftime through a penalty taken by Bright Anukani. This is after the referee adjudged Ronald Otti to have fouled Etienne Katenga in the box.

However, the Hoima-based side wasn’t yet done as Omedi and Semugabi yet linked up again. Omedi provided his second assist while Semugabi got his second goal for the night.

The hosts however equalized in the 53rd minute through defender Mahmood after he rose highest to head in a cross. The game eventually ended in a 3-all draw but Kitara advanced to the semifinals of the tournament by a score line of 4-3 on aggregate.

They had won the first leg 1-0. The winners of last season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup will now play whoever advances between BUL FC and Maroons FC. The first leg between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw. This game will be played tonight at the Philip Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
