Diamond Trust Bank customers are set to receive up to 25% discount on any payments using the new DTB platinum debit Mastercard. Kariuki Jemima, the Director in Kenya in charge of products and solutions at Mastercard spoke during an NBS Business Twitter space.
She said the benefits of the new cards circle around three main pillars including travel, peace of mind, and lifestyle. These are to improve customer experience.
“We have gone ahead to partner with different companies and get you preferential rates to enable customers to make payments using the card. Partners like hotels.com, booking.com, and travelstart.com. Customers will be able to make online flight bookings, accommodation, and transport. These come with a 10% discount,” Kariuki said.
As a typical person paying by cash or a different type of card, they would have to pay full price. However, Kariuki said because one is holding this card, they will get a 25% discount.
She further said they have partnered with Jumia for lifestyle to ensure that customers get a 25% cashback for payment made with the new card.
They also partnered with Show-max streaming service to give customers a 10% cashback for using the card.
Samuel Matekha, the head of Communications and Marketing at DTB Bank said the innovation will go a long way in bolstering financial inclusion.
It will also promote service delivery to Diamond Trust Bank platinum debit Mastercard holders.
“The bank plans to expand its services across the country, from supermarkets to fuel stations, among others to help Mastercard holders effectively embrace cashless financial services. We are building a robust Point of Sale (POS) network to increase this cashless financial inclusion,” Matekha said.
Customers will be able to use the DTB platinum debit Mastercard in 210 countries and 37million merchants across the world.
