DP Enters Day Two Of Nomination Process For EALA Election

Democratic Party (DP) has kicked off a two-day nomination process. This is aimed at identifying the party’s flag bearer for East Africa Legislative Assembly(EALA) elections scheduled for 2022.

Yesterday, the nominated two candidates. Babirye Kabanda, the former Woman MP for Masaka district and Namusana Faith Akiteng a former parliamentary contestant for Woman MP, Ngora district.

The two ladies emphasized furthering East African integration through good representation. Akiteng also said she brings a wealth of international relations.

She is a lawyer and acts as a legal advisor for many international companies. She promised to use the position to develop the youth in the country and also attract billions of money into the country’s economy.

Fred Mukasa Mbidde has been holding this position for 10 years and he is not coming back anymore. Mbidde also doubles as the Vice President of DP.

“Mbidde is not coming back. He has done his job perfectly well. As DP, our strategy is that out of 9 MPswe have in Parliament, we have to maintain our seat at EALA,” DP SG, Siranda said.

The DP secretary General, Gerald Siranda also told the media a week ago that they took the decision to get a DP EALA flag bearer at the meeting of National Executive Committee meeting.

The nomination process will end today and then the party will embark on the voting process.
