“We acted on intelligence that there was a certain hot spot along Namirembe Road where suspected stolen phones are resold,” he said.DPC Kirumira

“We surrounded it at Blue Room along Nakivubo stadium perimeter wall and recovered over 500 pieces of phone on top of 220 smart phones we recovered last week.”

“We prosecuted six suspects before court, and now we are ready to receive claimants of the said smart phones beginning with Monday 05.04.16. Come along with your receipts, a police reference, and any other document to the effect of proof of ownership,” he said Sunday.

In the event that you don’t have a document, at least produce a police reference to prove that you lost the said phone.

“We shall then ask Service providers, to give us better records.

“We intend to reduce phone snatching by eliminating resale points. Investigations are already at hand.
Soon members of public shall be invited to come with proof and claim these phones,” he said, adding, “This is just the beginning.”
