According to the singer, the government wants to kidnap the music industry and reign over it. He wondered why it wants to milk a cow it hasn’t been feeding.
The Mazongoto singer said that they had organized elections as the UMA policy board. However, the Ministry hijacked them and they also gave it up.
Hilderman also said that the Ministry has made the association appear like it’s in a scramble for power. This is yet for their case, their work towards UMA was voluntary.
He likened the government to a parent who wants to speak a lot on a child’s graduation yet they didn’t pay school fees.
The MP also maintained that UMA is still alive and operating.
He cited that the Ministry is ignorant and should have asked about the origins of the association. This is because the first batch of leaders was voted through WhatsApp groups. Now that they have advanced, the Ministry wants to think for them.
“Government wants to capture our industry and it has already done so. That’s why some of us who don’t like being ruled like kids decided to speak up. We had organized peaceful elections but the Ministry hijacked them and we also told them to organize them if they think they know better,” a bitter Hildeman said.
He further stated that he at one time called the Gender Minister, Betty Amongi about these elections. She bluntly told him that government wasn’t interested since it was a private affair.
The singer, therefore, wondered how and why quickly government developed an interest in the matter. He also said that the election was slated to go well hadn’t the government interfered on the day of voting.
What’s hurting the Mawokota north MP is that they funded the election individually. And yet the government is now trying to boss it. He however maintained that UMA is the way to go.
