The team also raided a semi – submersible boat carrying 16000 pounds of narcotics in July 18th 200 miles south of Mexico in the Eastern Pacific ocean. Authorities only seized 12,000 pounds of the 4000 pounds of drug of which the team left in the boat to stabilize, but was lost while towing the boat.
Though this is the largest cocaine bust of its kind, the U.S. Coast Guard has disrupted 15 other drug smuggling attempts since April, seizing $540 million and 33,000 pounds of narcotics.
