The main reason for that was to speak for musicians, especially on the problems they encounter in their career.
For a long time, musicians have complained about the copyright law saying it is not in place and musicians are not benefitting from their work.
The people to work on the copyright issue are those in Parliament but unfortunately, they are very slow on that.
Because of that, Eddy Kenzo formed his own group, UNMF yet there was another group, the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) led by Cindy Sanyu. Although they all say they are pushing for the same thing, they are so competitive.
This is after Cindy was invited to join the Federation and she declined. She said she doesn’t understand what the Federation is about after all they even stole the ideas of the Association.
Yesterday Kenzo and his team made their way to Parliament. They were welcomed by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Thomas Tayebwa.
“Our Petition was read on the Floor of Parliament… The Speaker sought to understand why the bill had delayed… The Speaker was disappointed with the delay and directed the Parliament Committee of ICT and national guidance to immediately address the petition. He gave timelines of 30 days to have the bill on the flow of Parliament.” he said.
