Eddy Kenzo Weighs On The Recent Influx Of Nigerian Artistes Into Uganda

Big Talent boss, Eddy Kenzo, has become the latest Ugandan musician to express concern over the recent influx of Nigerian musicians into the country.

Ever since the concerts were okayed to go ahead after the COVID-19 lockdown, there have been more Nigerian concerts than Ugandan. The likes of Ruger, Chike, Adekunle Gold, Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Fave, Ayra Starr have all performed in the country among others.

Some Ugandan artists have expressed great concern over this although others have no problem with these performances. For Eddy Kenzo, there is totally no problem for them singing here.

The problem is that, when it becomes a lot, it becomes a nuisance. The Weekend singer pointed out income expatriation as a strong reason why these concerts should reduce.

He further added that Ugandans should instead be encouraged to love and support their own. This is because when they do this, they are also beneficiaries.

“I really have no problem with Nigerians performing here because they have good music. The problem is when something becomes too much, it truns out to be valueless.

The habit has become a lot which in turn has an impact on the economy as lots of these artists take the money given to them out of Uganda. Let’s just encourage people to love and support their own because they also benefit as the money stays in the economy,” said Kenzo.

He also however called upon his compatriots to make good music. According to Kenzo, he’s been to several countries across the world.

These include the likes of Mali, Benin, Ivory Coast, Angola, Cameroon, Puerto Rico, Colombia among others. And this has all been because of his good music.

Meanwhile, the dissatisfaction amongst Ugandan artists continues over this issue. Apparently, it seems promoters are always willing to give these Nigerian singers huge chunks of money but peanuts for the Ugandans.

One thing these artists ought to learn is that this is capitalism and the promoters invest where they earn massively.
