Kitaka has been signed at Swangz Avenue for almost a year but his music hasn’t gone viral at all. The record label is one of the biggest in Uganda.
Young artists all wish to get an opportunity to work with them but the fortunate ones are get signed. So far they have five musicians and three are at the top of their game while the two are still figuring out their way in the industry.
According to Elijah Kitaka, Ugandans are used to some type of music. If an artist doesn’t sing that music, they are seen as failures. The singer asked Ugandans to be open-minded and know that an artist can go beyond their expectations to deliver even better music.
“When someone says, “oyo music simutegeera,” I wouldn’t want to think like my small country but rather think from within my small country. So we need to go beyond. I just want to say that we all deliver in different categories as musicians.” he said.
