FDC Is Not Violent At All – Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago

Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, has said Forum for Democratic Change, FDC has never been violent. He says this is a trait only associated with NRM and currently they are intimidating people in Soroti.

“We (FDC) are not violent at all. We don’t support or perpetuate violence. The NRM regime is the one here intimidating people, arresting people for no reason. It’s our right to come here and campaign for our party candidate Attan Moses.”

Lukwago says NRM is thriving on bribes and handouts to make sure they win the Soroti city east by-election.

“These people (NRM) are thriving on bribery, launching projects, and giving people handouts but we are also determined. We have assembled our own teams and we hope they are not going to beat them up or arrest them.”

Soroti City East by-election is the only thing on the lips of people in the political arena. The competition is mostly between NRM and FDC especially because FDC joined with NUP.

The race is much tighter and this week the campaigns are being finalized because elections are on Thursday. However, FDC’s Attan has already declared his win in the Soroti elections.

Attan has said he is confident because they are with Lukwago who has a lot of experience.

“We are very confident. The team we came with has the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago. You know his experience in protecting votes.”

Soroti City East by-election

Meanwhile In other news, the flag bearer of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party in the Soroti City East By-election, Pascal Amuriat, has said that there will only be peace if he and his party win.

Short of that, there will be bloodshed. This is especially if either FDC or NRM win this tightly contested election.
