She was born in Boston at the outset of the Great Depression in 1929. During her time, she won 12 Emmy Awards.

Cindi Berger, a publicist, announced the star’s death in a statement on Friday night.
“Barbara Walters passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones,” Cindi said.
The statement further revealed how Barbara lived a life of no regrets and how women and female journalists saw her as a trailblazer.
The show-business booking agent’s daughter began her career in journalism in 1961 with NBC. From there she became a segment producer of interest stories for women.
Barbara Walters made her way up the hierarchy in the male-dominated industry and in 1974 made history. She became the first female co-host of a US news programme, on NBC’s morning-time Today Show.
She then became a media superstar due to the unprecedented salary she got from becoming first female network news anchor, on ABC’s evening bulletin.
“I have been blessed with a life I never expected,” Walters said back in 2000 as she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
In 2014, she retired with a last appearance on her day show, The View. Tribute has been pouring in from around the world since the news of her passing came out.
