The song, originally written and popularized by the late Philly Bongole Lutaaya, has been out for many years. Earlier this year, Eddy Kenzo attempted to give the song more audience by releasing his version.
However, Ugandans reacted negatively to Kenzo’s version. He responded with unfavorable comments about Lutaaya. In the wake of this, other artists, including Fresh Daddy, have come forward with their versions.
In a recent interview, Fresh Daddy explained that he could not sit back and watch as others destroyed such a legendary song. He argued that he had the best version of “Born in Africa”. He also hoped other artists could learn from him how to remake songs.
The public, however, criticized Fresh Daddy’s version as the worst.
“Sisobola kutuula awo nendaba abantu nga boonoona omuziki gw’omugenzi ow’amanyi. Kyenva nasazeewo okubalaga “Born in Africa” bweyalina okuwulikika era y’ensonga lwaki nange akayimba nakazeemu,” he said.
