Galaxy FM, a popular radio station in Kampala, yesterday became a battle field after they started throwing shade at Juliana in favor of B2C. Since the two artistes decided to have their concerts on the same day, Galaxy has expressively taken sides with B2C.
Recently, their renowned presenter, DJ Nimrod came out and accused Juliana of being selfish and unsupportive towards her fellow artistes. Infact he was disappointed in artists who were pushing for her concert in place of B2C.
As if this wasn’t enough, on the concert day, Galaxy FM through their media started prophesying the flop of Juliana’s concert. Regardless of most people reminding the radio station that impartiality is required of them, nothing was done about it.
Galaxy kept posting pictures of what was happening at the B2C concert with provocative captions to the Juliana camp. Plus Galaxy accused Juliana of giving out free tickets.
The question is, if the media too takes part in the artistes’ differences, when will the music industry grow?
The media is expected to be neutral but then if it takes sides, how shall the music industry find balance. How can there be unity when the uniting factors are biased too?
The truth is, much as it was complicated to have these two concerts on the same day, these artistes attract different crowds. This is why they both sold out.
Freedom city was as full as Serena Hotel. Fans from different camps had fun where they were and there was probably no need of comparison.
However, such things are going to keep happening, so, artistes too should be mature enough to understand.
