Julie Birungi is one of the people that this Anti-gay law is against. She left Uganda and divorced her husband to marry a fellow woman. She did that while in Canada because in Uganda homosexuality is illegal. By then she wasn’t fearing the government and law but people who were surrounding her.
The singer feared to be judged for being a lesbian. But now it is not even about people to bully her, she will be arrested once she practices homosexuality in Uganda.
Apparently, the former pastor with all her three children are in Canada. They even recently got Canadian citizenship. However, her fear now is coming back to visit the people she left behind.
After the bill was signed into law, she went on her social media platforms and wondered if there is no more visiting because of her sexuality. She said she doesn’t understand if the law will pick up on her just coming to visit.
“So now no visiting Uganda to see our beloved friends and family because of my (our) sexual orientation?🤨
Muntagazemuko Awo 😝 (mbatankudde kati😂😂,” Julie Birungi posted.
It should be noted that some people were supporting the Anti-homosexuality bill while others said they will challenge it in court if it gets signed.
