General Court Martial Won’t Remain The Same After Besigye’s Case – Hon Betty Nambooze Predicts

Mukono Municipality MP, Hon Betty Nambooze has predicted that the General Court Martial based in Makindye will not remain the same once the Dr. Kiiza Besigye case is concluded.

She said that there will be a huge shakeup because of the attention the case has attracted.

According to Nambooze, the Court has been handling small local cases. However, the Besigye case has put the country and court under the spotlight. She also added that even neighbors Kenya have come under scrutiny for the way the former presidential candidate was abducted.

This is because they also don’t know how to explain what happened.

“The General Court Martial will not remain the same after this @kizzabesigye1 case. They have been handling local cases, but now they are dealing with a case that has attracted international attention. What happened in Kenya regarding the Kizza Besigye incident has left the Kenyan government in tension. They don’t even know how to explain how it happened.”

Besigye is facing charges pertaining to possession of unlawful arms and plans to cause chaos in the country. He is alledgedly working with foreign agents and was arrested bizarrely in Kenya last month. He has spent a couple of weeks in Luzira Prison.

The former FDC president has appeared in the Court Martial to apply for bail but in vain. He was remanded to Luzira Prison until December 10.
