German Embassy Forced To Delete Congratulatory Message To Museveni After Pressure

The German Embassy has been forced to delete their congratulatory message to Museveni. This has come after the pressure put on them by the Ugandans.

The message congratulating Museveni was shunned by Ugandans especially supporters of opposition.

“I would like to congratulate you on your reelection as President of the Republic of Uganda,”

“Your new term in office is an opportunity to continue advancing the democratic and economic development of your country and strengthening the rule of law in the interests of all Ugandans” the letter read in part.

The letter also showed Germany’s willingness to continue working with Uganda in case of anything.

“Germany remains a willing partner to your country as you continue down this path”

However, after receiving so much criticism on their post, the German embassy posted again saying they won’t tolerate hate speech.

“Hello followers, we are getting a lot of criticism for this post. That’s okay, we respect and tolerate freedom of speech to in Germany. but we don’t tolerate hate speech. Hate is not an opinion. We expect our users to use common courtesy in their comments. If you use offensive or threatening language, we will delete your comment and or block you from our page” the embassy warned.

Surprisingly, today has not come to an end, but the pressure they received forced them to delete the post. This must have came after negative comments kept coming in even after the warning.
