Government Wants Ssegirinya To Denounce Opposition To Regain His Freedom – Bobi Wine

Bobi Wine has said the Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya has told him that government has on several occasions, coerced him to denounce his opposition party and apologize to President Museveni if he wants to regain his freedom.

Bobi Wine made these remarks after paying a visit to Ssegirinya in Mulago where he is receiving treatment from. He informed his people that Ssegirinya’s health is worrying.

“He has complained of excruciating pain in his foot, and breathing difficulties. We have learnt from him that several state operatives and politicians keep frequenting his treatment room and harassing him to apologize to dictator Museveni and denounce the struggle or else he will not be freed from his misery,” said Kyagulanyi.

Bobi Wine rebuked the government for the continued detention of the sick MP. He also says if anything happens to him, it will be the government to blame. They rushed MP Ssegirinya to hospital on Friday.

Apparently, his condition kept worsening from Kitalya Prison where they had detained him. Ssegirinya had on very many occasions told the court that he needs medication but they ignored it.

Ssegirinya alongside his colleague, Allan Ssewanyana are facing charges of murder and attempted murder. They detained them in September and up until now, court keeps denying them bail.

Currently, the government is planning to move a motion on the floor of Parliament to deny bail to capital offenders until proven innocent.
