Government That Stays Long In Power Only Resorts To Violence – Yusuf Sserunkuma

Political analyst, Yusuf Sserunkuma, has said governments that stay long in power use violence to keep the power. According to him, after 20 years, citizens grow tired of a particular government.

“A government that stays long in power doesn’t stay because people love it, it stays because it’s able to use violence. We need to be aware as Ugandans that after 30 years in office, there is no government that is voted into office because people love it. 20 years is sufficient enough for people to hate the sitting government.” says Yusuf Sserunkuma.

Considering this view, this must be the reason why the opposition now more than ever is very bent on bringing down the NRM government.

NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi has been in and out of meetings from within and out of country saying enough is enough. He has reached an extent of saying Elections are no longer fit enough to change the government in Uganda.

On the 9th October, Uganda will be making 60 years of Independence. Half of this time, Uganda has been under one government.

Of course the NRM government has played a great role in the development of the country. However, too long is too much for a number of people. This is the reason why they are facing do much resistance from opposition.
