Apparently, Sammy had been receiving treatment in Amsterdam. The band hoped he would get well soon so that they continue with him to Sweden. However, the statement doesn’t clearly show what the late was battling with.
“It is with deep regret to report the death of our bass guitarist, Mr Sammy Kasule,” part of the statement read.
“Sammy had been on his way to Sweden for further treatment when at his stopover at Amsterdam, it was assessed that he couldn’t continue with the journey without treatment.”
Anyway, the 69-year-old Sammy will be remembered for always adding life to Afrigo’s music. He played with them in songs that included ekittobeero, ziwuna, ozze munange, among others. These particular songs hit a different way many claim.
Sammy’s musical journey started way back when he was young. He dropped out of school to chase his musical dream. He first joined a band named, super Kaumba then later Les Noirs.
Kasule has not only been a guitarist but also a very good singer. He sang “Shauri Yako” in English. His fans were very depressed at the fact that he is no more.
“I loved his song Ziwuuna.
From the many of his songs my father always played on cassette when we were growing up.
May his soul rest in peace.” One of the fans tweeted.
The people who appreciate good music know for sure that a legend has died. The sounds of Sammy were unique in that even when a song was a mediocre song, his touch would make it good. He always made his bass speak in all musical languages.
