Hon. Munyagwa Denies Being Part Of NUP Party Hooliganism

Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa is an FDC strongman and the former Kawempe South Member of Parliament. He has come out to say that he is not and never will be in support of the National Unity Platform.

He said this is majorly attributed to the party’s hooliganism and disrespect for people that is exhibited especially among its supporters. Munyagwa made these comments while appearing on a weekend political show on one of the local tv stations.

He said NUP has demolished the political arena due to the party leaders failing to tame their supporters and condemn their bad acts. Some of these acts include insulting, abusing, defaming and blackmailing people.

The ex-MP also said the NUP supporters do these acts to everyone not sparing fellow activists in the opposition that don’t belong to their party.

He expressed his disappointment in some known NUP supporters fond of declaring people dead when they are still alive. He said some of these are very respected people in the country, pinpointing the Kabaka of Buganda.

According to him, this political atmosphere only came into existence with the introduction of NUP. He said the party leaders need to tame their supporters.

“I’m not part of that group. I can never be, I don’t tolerate nonsense. I don’t care whether they vote for me or not. They are arrogant and disrespectful. We need sanity in politics. NUP is a bad egg.” Munyagwa said.

He further added that if NUP cannot control their supporters, they definitely cannot control the rest of the country if they ever take over.

Munyagwa lost his seat in 2021 to a NUP candidate Hon Bashir Mbaziira Kazibwe.

However, Kazibwe is also at loggerheads with NUP over accusations of him drinking from the same cup as NRM and ‘betraying the struggle.’
