BREAKING: Hotel Africana Boss, Muwanga Kibirige Dies

Hotel Africana proprietor, Hajji Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, commonly known as BMK has passed away at the age of 67. The Ugandan businessman, entrepreneur has passed away on Friday morning.

According to a report published post in 2012, Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige was one of the wealthiest people in Uganda and a supporter of charity especially disadvantaged group in the society especially sick cell patients.  . 

He is a Ugandan entrepreneur cut teeth to  who built  a fortune business in hotel business in Africa. 

Circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. However, preliminary reports show that BMK died in Nairobi where he was undergoing treatment.

In 1997, BMK started the hotel with 40 rooms on Kololo Hill, which is within Kampala’s central business district. During the next decade, the hotel grew into a four star establishment.

BMK owns hotels in Kenya, Zambia and Uganda. 

1986, BMK Group started a general trade and manufacturing company then  later in 1997 Hotel Africana was born with only 40-rooms they have now expanded to 233 rooms and 30 serviced apartments on Kololo Hill, a prestigious location within Kampala’s central business district.

Two years ago he  added another  multi billion hotel in Kapchorwa and  plans were under way  to establish other branches in Arua due to increased demand for Africana Hotel  services.

BMK also invested in real estate, construction equipment, motorcycle distributorship and foreign exchange bureaus across East and Central Africa. 

Dr. BMK has been very instrumental in raising funds to support sickle cell initiatives from the Ugandan business community.
