Police in Migori, Western Kenya are searching for a housemaid who poisoned her boss’s children, including one that belongs to her fellow worker in Oruba Estate in Migori town.
On Tuesday morning, one of the children passed away while two others and their new housemaid are in critical condition at St Joseph Ombo Mission Hospital where they were quickly driven for medical attention.
A teacher at Migori Primary School, Madam Oluoch Bertha narrated that by the time she reached home on Monday evening, her kids had no problem health-wise, but she became sceptical after they begun vomiting excessively and complaining of stomach pains at the same time.
My children were all fine when I arrived home from work, but after a few minutes, they started vomiting while complaining of stomach pains, I had to rush them to the health centre,’Ms Bertha said.
Ms Bertha narrated how her house helper identified as Atieno Belinda had packed all her chattels and left in bad mood after preparing dinner, which she suspected could have been poisoned.
According to Madam Bertha, the meal was served to all her 4 kids, but fortunately, the older ones didn’t take it because they had moved out to play at the neighborhood.
Belinda has been accusing Madam ( her boss ) of refusing to pay her salaries for the last four months and she had talked of teaching her a lesson one day,’she said.
After performing a lab test, Mr Mwanga Collins, a medical professional at the health care facility confirmed that it’s true the food was poisoned, that’s why one kid died, the other three are still admitted and in critical condition.
