Houston Police Rescues Dozens In Human Smuggling Operation

Over two dozen people have been rescued by police on Thursday night from a house in Houston where they were held in a human smuggling operation.

After a man running on the streets screaming they had kidnapped him and held at the house. The police immediately sprung into action finding the rest. They forced entry into the house and found 29 men and one woman according to a police commander.

‘’Most people authorities rescued during this human smuggling operation in Brownsville. Between two days and a week ago, they were being held there’’. Jonathan Halliday, a police commander said.

Many of the rescued people are reportedly from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras or Cuba according to police. Immigration officers at the scene said an investigation will commence very soon.

The Department of Homeland Security got involved and the victims are cooperating with the agency and giving statements.

Halliday, however, said they detained three of the people as possible suspects involved in the abduction of the victims. Police therefore took all the victims to a high school and gave them food and clothes. The neighbors donated some of the items.

The DHS also did not return a request for a comment immediately on Thursday night.
