Stigma is one of the most complicated things to deal with, even worse than the sickness itself. It puts you in a place of unworthiness and unloved by everyone around you. Actually, sometimes even people that could have handled a sickness, die because of Stigma. It is so sad that sometimes this stigma is from close relatives.
Well, sometimes, there is nothing to do about it. So how do you deal with it then? It may sound absurd, but it is at such times, you should love yourself the more. Don’t let people feel like a rug or less important. The more you love yourself, you actually attract people to love you back. Strength is very attractive. Choose to be strong regardless of what is going on around you.
Make yourself busy with activities that are motivating. You know the things you love, do them if you can. Don’t give a lot of time to thoughts to grows in your mind. Read books, listen to music, watch videos of those who went through the same. You must understand that you need yourself now more than ever.
Stigma first starts in the mind, however, when you deal with your mind, you can deal with the outside effects.
There are so many people who are chosen to look beyond stigma. For example, MC Kats is a known HIV victim but has never taken stigma as an excuse not to live his life. He has made it, he is still making it. This only means you can outlive the stigma and live your life as you should.
