Media Personalities most times start so strong and fade by the years. Whether it’s poor planning or intentional we never know. However, no one goes so far as to later give up, this means some just don’t know how to remain relevant in the ever-changing media environment.
You look at someone who has the potential of changing the world but they don’t know how to brand themselves.
Let’s talk about branding oneself. In this industry, you are as relevant as the weight of your brand. Find something unique you can do with yourself.
The problem with people nowadays, they are so lazy and only copying the personalities who have already made it. Create your own thing, make something that is not there in the industry currently.
Make research, read, go back to school. Don’t just be ordinary, there is no space for the ordinary in the media industry.
Create circles of impact to you! Make friends with the people that are standing, you will learn a lot from them because they have experience.
Avoid being everywhere, it makes you so vulnerable to bloggers. Know where to be and who to be with. This industry will teach you how to be selective with your circles whether you like it or not!
Mind your business!
Hard, right? But do it! Mind your business. You don’t have to give your opinions everywhere every time.
Take Douglas Lwanga as an example, he is rarely involved in scandals because he has learned the art of minding his business.
Outside the media work, find something to do that can create impact in the community. Faridah Nakazibwe and Karitas Karisimbi always give back to people, so people love them beyond TV excitement. The most important thing though is be yourself!
