Legendary songstress Iryn Namubiru has downplayed the prospect of ever holding a music battle with any Ugandan singer. This is because she believes she has nothing to prove.
It should be noted that battles between musicians are not a new thing to Ugandans.
Several singers such as Bebe Cool Vs Bobi Wine, Dr Jose Chameleone Vs Bobi Wine, Radio&Weasel Vs Bebe Cool, and recently Sheebah Vs Cindy have all gone down. However, the Nkuweki singer said that she doesn’t see the essence in it.
This is because, by the time an artist is to do a battle, they are already known. Therefore, they have nothing to prove to anyone, and besides it breeds negativity in the industry. On top of that, every artist has a fan base that thinks they are the best.
“I can’t go into a music battle because I have nothing to prove. If I have been singing, it means people know me and like my music. Battles are simply there to brew negativity in the music industry. On top of that, every singer has a fan who thinks they are the best,” she said.
Iryn Namubiru also opened up on how she’s managed to maintain a fine body. Despite having three kids and well into her early 40s, the Lwaki Onzanyirako singer still looks in good shape.
She said that she also doesn’t understand her body. This is because she at times gains and then loses weight.
However, for the fact that she’s always away from the public eye, people don’t seem to notice these constant changes.
Besides, she also does some simple exercises and at times tries to balance her diet. This is because despite the talent and hits, an artist’s physical appearance matters a lot to the fans’ conscious mind.
