Nambooze blamed his handlers for wrongly advising him because they should have known that Saturday was not a good day for a speech. If indeed the intention was to address the nation, then Saturday was not the day.
“Who was President Museveni speaking to on Saturday when there was football? Didn’t his handlers advise? I won’t lie, I was also watching football. President Museveni doesn’t have good advisors because of nepotism,” she said.
Saturday had a number of matches that were so tempting to watch. The teams that were playing are much loved and have a lot of fans. Manchester United was playing against Watford, Arsenal was playing with Liverpool.
Chelsea was playing with Leicester. Hon. Nambooze has a point looking at this because most people don’t even remember what the president said.
Meanwhile, this speech was supposed to be on a Friday but due to unexplained reasons, it was moved to Saturday. The question is what do they always consider when planning for these addresses.
If their target is to talk to the public then they should seek for time when there is not much distraction. However, some people didn’t agree with Nambooze on her point.
“Am sorry to say this but madam Nambooze Betty is now into comedy…. Of all Ugandans .. how many watch football … Does that even matter??” a one Kalinda Brian said.
