If We Don’t Regulate Solar Waste, We Are Heading Towards Environmental Disaster, Environmental Experts Warn

Environmental Experts have warned that if people don’t learn how to regulate solar waste, the country is heading towards environmental disaster. Generally, the experts warn that solar technologies are a great danger to the environment.

Ashabrick Nantege Bamutaze, the coordinator Appropriate Technology Centre at the ministry of Water and Environment said she has realized that there are also a lot of fake solar products in the market.

“Many of these solar products fail shortly after they have been bought. Then you find people are just having solar waste in their homes. So, if we don’t regulate solar waste, if we don’t mind the way we copy and promote technologies, we are heading into a disaster and this could be the biggest threat to the environment,” she said.

The Environmental Experts say Uganda needs to be more organized and concerned about sustainability, environmental and human health. Most of the people in the rural areas are great customers of solar.

This is because they have no electricity as of now. If this advice is to be taken in as it should, then the government has to be fast about spreading electricity in the whole country.

Otherwise this warning is going to fall to the ground. As of now, the government can at least start by teaching people how to dump solar waste.
