International Anti-Corruption Day, How Far Is Uganda In This fight?

Today is International Anti-corruption day and Museveni will address the nation about the same today. Corruption has been an ongoing talk among Ugandans.

Politicians have been using it so much against the government saying it has completely failed to fight corruption regardless of all the moves. Museveni at some point had a 10 point program to fight corruption however, we don’t know how far it went.

In her anti-corruption moves, the Inspector-General of Government has been very tough recently about corruption. She even tasked children to ask their parents where their wealth came from.

For her, it’s the responsibility of everyone to fight corruption though there are people who were specifically appointed to do this.

Miria Matembe while on NBS TV morning show said the ongoing corruption is caused by degeneration in ethics.

“The underlying cause of corruption is degeneration of ethical issues. People are driven by power and wealth. As long as it is that way, no strategy will end corruption.”

She noted that the only way corruption will not thrive is when the president doesn’t want to. According to her nothing, he is against continues to breathe.

“If the President doesn’t want corruption, corruption won’t thrive. Let me ask you, is there anything that Museveni wants that he doesn’t get?”

Meanwhile, the president will probably give a report on how far the country has gone using his 10 point program strategy.
