IPOD Speaks Out On NUP’s Refusal To Join The Organization

The InterParty Organization on Dialogue (IPOD) has come out to speak on the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) refusal to join it.

It should be noted that most political parties were at one time inducted into IPOD. However, after gaining a cemented stature, NUP has constantly revealed that it has no intention to join the organization.

The party says that the organization is a powerless wheel only used to advance the NRM’s illegitimate grip on power.

IPOD executive secretary Frank Rusa while appearing on the NBS Face-Off said that the organization is a voluntary organization. They cannot, therefore, force anyone to join them.

“IPOD is a voluntary association. That’s why we are not castigating NUP for not joining,” Rusa said.

In regards to the current and often politicking by most political parties, Rusa said that any party worthy of the country’s leadership has the ability to know when they can politick and time to carry out national interests.

“We believe that any party that is worthy of the leadership of the country should have the ability to see that there is a time for politicking and a time for national interest.”

In regards to the money given to political parties through the organization, Rusa said that the money is from the Electoral Commission.

DP president Nobert Mao has constantly attacked NUP because of this money. He calls them a hypocritical party full of corrupt individuals who down on IPOD money yet decline admission into it.

Rusa said that the reason they call IPOD money is that they birthed the idea through their periodical meetings.

“IPOD doesn’t give out any money to Political Parties. It is the Electoral Commission that gives money to them. This money is referred to as IPOD money because the idea to give political parties money was conceived at IPOD.”

He then said that he doesn’t want people to lose hope in the association because of a few slow results. This is because democracy itself is more of a journey than a destination and therefore not static.

Their role, therefore, is to look at the long-term picture and evaluate their gains plus how to accelerate them.

Further, Rusa said that they can’t negotiate a power transition because that’s more of depriving people of their power.
