Chris Obore; It's Not The Deputy Speaker That Sent Out Zaake

It’s Not The Deputy Speaker That Sent Out Zaake, It Was The MPs – Chris Obore

The Director of communications and public affairs at Parliament, Chris Obore has said the Deputy Speaker is not responsible for what happened to Hon. Francis Zaake.

According to him, it is the Members of Parliament that decided that Zaake should leave the commission.

“The mover of the motion censuring Hon. Zaake was not the Deputy Speaker. It was Hon. Mapenduzi. The role of the Speaker is just to moderate. 155 members made the decision to get Hon. Zaake out of the commission. It wasn’t the Deputy Speaker.”

He also cautioned the public to stop underestimating what the parliament is doing.

The public has been expressing a lot of disappointment in the parliament for failure to respond to high prices of commodities but quick to react to Zaake’s issue.

“It is dishonest to say there’s nothing the Parliament or Members of Parliament do. Friction ideologically is why Parliament exists. What we need to discourage is hatred and personal attacks,” Chris Obore added.

Meanwhile, at the morning breakfast show on NBS, Chris Obore also said people should stop hyping the Deputy Speaker’s visit to Oulanyah in the US. He says it’s normal to visit patients.

“The Speaker has been sick. That’s a fact. The Deputy Speaker is the one who informed the country about the Speaker’s treatment in the US. It’s been a while, and she decided to go and check on him. We shouldn’t see visiting a patient as a crisis.”
