It went on for years and escalated in 2019. She got so sick that she couldn’t function without using the drugs that were given to her after she got an accident.
The singer’s music career was slowing down and like any other musician who is passionate, she decided to seek more help.
She tried to go to rehabilitation centers here in Uganda but failed and decided to go to Nairobi Kenya. Fortunately, she got the help she needed and recovered. She has been sobber for about three years now.
According to the singer, although she went through a lot, music has been part of her life and it has always been on her mind.
Jackie Chandiru said she is happy that she made the right decision by making peace with herself. This has been so helpful.
The songstress also revealed that she can’t forget how people were judgemental and how others were so helpful in her struggle with drugs.
“Music has been on my mind, and I am elated because I have just made peace with myself. I had given up on myself, and while I was still struggling, others were being judgmental. It’s been a long journey, but I am a happier person now,” she said.
