Joe Biden Looks To Get Independence From Coronavirus By 4 July

President Joe Biden said he is hopeful the United States will be free from the coronavirus by 4 July. In his first primetime address as president, he said he would order states to make all adults eligible for vaccinations by May 1.

The current measures prioritize people by their age or by their health condition. His speech comes as the world marks a year since the outbreak was classified as a pandemic.

In March of 2020, all major sporting events were cancelled and actor Tom Hanks announced that he had caught the coronavirus. Then-president, Donald Trump suspended travel from Europe and said he hoped the US would be open again for Easter.

President Biden also eyed an important date in his speech for when small groups could get together again.

‘’If we do this together, by 4 July, there is a good chance you, your family, and friends can get together in your backyard and celebrate Independence Day,’’ Mr. Biden said.

He added that not only will the country be celebrating Independence Day, but also independence from the novel coronavirus.

As a measure to enhance the vaccination process, the number of immunization centers will be increased. Veterinarians and dentists will also be permitted to administer the Covid Jabs. The president also said mobile units will travel to local communities to provide vaccinations in ‘undeserved communities’.

Mr. Joe Biden set a target of 100 million vaccinations by his 100th day in office. He, however, said they will attain this milestone on the 60th day.
