Jose Chameleone Reveals Real Meaning Behind His Stage Name

Singer Joseph Mayanja also known as Jose Chameleone has revealed the real meaning behind his celebrity name. He said he doesn’t understand why some Ugandans with their little education say he is Chameleone because he changes colour which is not true.

The singer has been in the music industry for more than twenty years. He has never changed his stage name and people have never understood why he chose that name.

According to him, the reason why he is Jose Chameleone is because he is of diversity. He didn’t stick to the old ways, he has been evolving with the years.

Read his statement below;

“I’m Joseph Chameleone because I’m full of diversity. But some funny Ugandans with their little education say I’m Chameleone because I change colors. Some people want me to be bad and I always prove them wrong,” he said.

It should be noted that the singer was mostly called a real Chameleone when he joined politics. He first got a card of Democratic Party and later wanted to join National Unity Platform (NUP).

He later showed that he had interests in the ruling party NRM although he didn’t get a chance to contest for the Kampala city mayor on their behalf. All these seem to show that he bears the likeness of the colour-changing tiny animal.

It should be noted however, that the singer has been consistent with his music. He is known as the father of contemporary Ugandan music.

He took Eat Africa by storm in the early 2000s and has never looked back since. This is why he is considered a living legend in the Ugandan music scene.
