Yesterday, the late received praise from the legal fraternity for her distinctive character and quality of work output.
These personal traits saw her rise through the ranks within the judiciary to the level of Supreme Court Judge in 2012. Ever since then, she has held onto this position until she met her demise over the weekend.
She joined the judicial service in the High Court in 1997. This was before her promotion to the level of Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2010.
Yesterday, Parliament observed a moment of silence as the plenary session opened in honor of Justice Amoko.
They also did this to honor the students from Lhubiriha Secondary School. These were killed on the same day as the justice died by suspected ADF militants.
“The House has adjourned to Wednesday, 21 June, 2023, at 2:00pm for a #SpecialSitting in honor of former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Stella Arach Amoko,” Parliament’s Twitter post partly read.
Anita Among, the Speaker of Parliament is expected to receive the body of the late this afternoon, minutes before the special sitting begins.
