Justice Faith Mwondha’s Brother, Mwondha Kalikwani Dies In Prison

Wrangles over family land saw Mwondha Kalikwani, the only surviving biological brother to Supreme Court Judge Faith Mwondha imprisoned. They put the former IGG’s brother in prison at Kirinya prison and unfortunately, he passed away while there.

Two months ago, frail Kalikwani got incarcerated after developing a misunderstanding with his sister, Justice Mwondha, over land matters.

According to sources, Kalikwani’s condition worsened during his time in prison since he was diabetic.

The death of Kalikwani, who called himself a historical and a diehard NRM cadre has left many Basogas appalled on social media. Many have also demanded an end to the prolonged land-related wrangles in the family.

The land in question is located in Nakabango neighborhood in Jinja and has been the subject of several court battles.

One of Kalikwani’s neighbors said on the day of his arrest, they knew he wouldn’t live for long given his diabetic condition.

Kalikwani’s death has also caused an uproar among a section of Basoga on social media.

These are accusing the judge of not being merciful considering the health status of his brother at the time of his arrest.
