Police Stuck With Unidentified Body Recovered From Lake Bunyonyi

Kabale district police has launched an investigation into circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in lake Bunyonyi. Fishermen discovered an unidentified floating body with no identification and reported it to the authorities.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson said the Marine police received the information and made its way to the scene. They then conveyed the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary to carry out postmortem examination.

Maate went ahead to ask the public to volunteer information that could lead to the identification of the deceased. He also asked the public to report any missing relatives so as to get any information on the deceased.

A similar incident happened on Lake Bunyonyi on March 19, 2023 when residents found a body floating in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Kabale police also registered the sudden death of a 31-year-old woman identified as Judith Natuhwera. She was a casual worker and resident of Murwerere village Bubare Subcounty Rubanda district. The deceased has been an alleged worker at a hotel along Nyerere road belonging to one Tukamushaba Lydia. She also stayed at the same hotel along with other workers.

The police visited the scene and found the deceased lying on her chest hence taking her to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem. The actual cause of death has not been determined yet but the police revealed it would update as events unfold.
