Kadaga Attends CEC As Calls For Discipline Become Distant Sound

As of yesterday, the Central Executive Committee CEC meeting happened at State House Entebbe. Among the notable appearances, the former Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga happened to be one of them.

Initially, Kadaga had rioted against the top body in the NRM party. This was because of its decision to drop her as the Speaker and endorse Jacob Oulanyah.

After all that commotion, many expected Kadaga to be absent for this meeting. However, to their surprise, she made a notable appearance on the occasion.

Kadaga arrived for the CEC meeting on time and took a position directly across from President Museveni as members welcomed her. Some other members consoled her for the previous defeat.

As the CEC met to make final touches to the party’s appointment committee, there happened to be a pending issue of disciplinary action for Kadaga. Prior to the meeting, the former chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa, reported this issue.

‘’I am requesting for an apology to the President as an individual, an apology to the CEC and one to the party,’’ Nankabirwa petitioned the CEC.

It is a common agreement within the party structures to discipline Kadaga. However, it is also clear that members do not want to dispense the former speaker from the party.

Even President Museveni himself has made it clear in meetings that the party is ready to work with Kadaga. This is especially if she agrees to follow the plan.

The president revealed to Kadaga before the CEC meeting that a position in the party still stands, but as Vice President.

As it is known that the CEC meeting intended to address other matters, it’s ending plus the pleasantries towards Kadaga could mean she is back in things.
