Kale Kayihura, whose term as IGP was renewed months ago, was speaking at Nkumba University at an event to mark the third edition of the police week on Sunday.
Commenting on a presentation by Pan Africanism scholar Dr Kaihura-Nkuba, Kayihura said he would interest himself more in understanding humanity and Kaihura-Nkuba’s other teachings “when I retire, which is actually very soon, provided the peace is maintained”.
“If you want me to retire soon, keep the peace,” he emphasized.
Kayihura also vowed to deal with those planning to disrupt peace whether he is retired or still in active service.
He added that he will “volunteer as a crime preventer” to restore peace even after retirement.
He described opposition politicians he claimed were planning to burn the city in protest of a plot to lift the presidential age limit as “suffering from mentocide [the suicide of one’s mind].
Kale Kayihura has been recently quoted as saying there was nothing wrong with three-decade president Yoweri Museveni ruling beyond 75 years.
