Kanyomozi Reacts To Muhoozi: National Team Is A Responsibility Of Government

The president of Ugandans On Twitter, Patrick Kanyomozi has reacted to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s post. The first son caused a lot of commotion in a now-deleted tweet saying he is going to tell his mother to help the national basketball team.

“We shall support our great basketball players! I have spoken to Honourable @JanetMuseveni on this issue. She has promised to help.”

Of course, this didn’t go unnoticed and many people quickly reacted. The word “help” in that statement caused a lot of heads to turn. One of them is Kanyomozi who quickly said it’s actually the first lady’s responsibility not just a matter of helping as suggested.

“Good. Please also tell her that’s not how things work, a national team is a responsibility of the government hence there should be systems to support all national teams. It shouldn’t wait for the Commander of Land Forces to call the Education & Sports Minister to “help”, it’s her duty,” Kanyomozi tweeted.

It seems the word “help” was just a turn-off for everyone.

Olivia Komugisha, an NTV reporter wondered if she just read help in his post. Immediately, Muhoozi replied confirming that yes he meant help.

Tina Fierce also didn’t waste the opportunity to put her point across. She said they should also remind her about fixing the education system.

“While he is at it, let him also remind her to fix the education system….since she needs to be told what falls under her docket”

The First lady, Janet Museveni heads the Ministry of Education and Sports. Ugandans have on many occasions accused the ministry of neglecting the sports sector and only recognizing them when they win.
