Shaban Senfuka, one of the seven suspects granted bail a couple of hours earlier was rearrested as he returned home, at the Nakawa Junction.

Grade one magistrate Noah Sajjabi had in the morning released 7 of  14 people accused of killing former police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his driver Godfrey Wambewa and bodyguard Kenneth Erau

These were freed on a Shs. 50 Million Non-cash bail each.

Immediately after the release, Police intensified security around the court, as the excited Senfuka  addressed reporters on their ordeal in detention.

He told reporters he was wrongfully arrested, noting, “I am free now because God cannot be bribed.”

“I am also praying for our friends who were committed to High Court to be released like us,” he added.

But as he left the court premises, he was intercepted by men in plain cloths and forced in a waiting private vehicle and driven off.

Magistrate Sajjabi released the seven suspects on grounds that they were held on remand for over six months and that  the law dictates that after this period, one should be released on bail.

“These people first appeared before this court on 21st of April 2017 and the six months have already elapsed without being committed for trial,” he ruled.

The seven released today are Shanan Senfuka who is back in detention; Hassan Tusiime, Sheikh Musa Brenda, Ibrahim Kisa, Sheikh Majidu Ojegere and Hamiidu Magambo.
