The all weekend party was slated from 5-7th October 2018 and this would have been the 7th edition of the city carnival which had been arguably branded by some of the wildest and biggest street party animals in East and Central Africa. Indeed the party basically celebrates culture social life and unity.
KCCA prioritizes health and Education sectors.
City dwellers had gotten used to music rhythms every first week of October for the last seven years in a row whereby several companies in partnership with KCCA set up a couple of stages in various locations of the city with musicians performing from morning to midnight.
Party people enjoy a wide range of things from the aromas of meat to different kinds of drinks. It’s revealed that the carnival attracts at least 3-5 million people all over East Africa and some distant neighboring countries.
However, this morning the Kampala executive director Mrs Jeniffer Musisi broke a million of hearts when she announced that the famous festival has been cancelled for this year.
According to the Executive director Jennifer, the authority has used balance of the sponsorships to develop schools (read KCCA schools) and health sectors around town. It’s noted that KCCA has 79 schools and it’s looking forward to improve and rehabilitate them.
“We have seen a lot of improvement. We’ve been renovating buildings, roofing, building toilets, providing water, providing scholastic materials and improving teachers among others” Jeniffer said.
Musisi says they’ll start with Nakivubo blue primary school and Nakivubo settlement before moving to other projects. The authority also has plans to construct a maternity ward for kiswa health centre in Nakawa division. It’s reported that KCCA health centres handle 400 child deliveries a week. The director also revealed that the authority has been contributing monthly to the school projects through a campaign dubbed “2k”. Which encourages every KCCA employee to contribute 2000 shillings in an effort to rehabilitate schools.
This comes as a huge blow to the Uganda Entertainment industry.
