KDF Day is observed annually in Kenya to commemorate and celebrate the acts of valour and gallantry by KDF soldiers. It has been observed since October 2012 following operations launched in Linda Nchi in October 2011.
Aden Duale, the Cabinet Secretary for Defence will lead Kenyan Defense Forces (KDF) as they mark 12 years of the KDF Day celebrations.
The celebrations will take place at Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi. Duale is one of the top security officials that will be in attendance at the event.
This year, the celebrations will be held under the theme, “One Force One Mission-Enhancing National and Regional Security”. Officials say that this day is the most important day in the KDF calendar as it is reflected in their idea of duty.
In an earlier message, Duale said the national anthem sings loudest in the silence of every fallen soldier.
“On this 14th day of October, we commemorate and celebrate the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Day. This day is dedicated to honour the acts of valour and gallantry displayed by KDF heroes and heroines,” he said.
General Francis Ogolla, the Chief of Defence Forces is also expected to be in attendance at the celebrations.
Some of the activities at the event will include recognizing soldiers who performed best in their duties. They will be presented with awards to recognize their commendable work.
