He said the country needs to think twice about the foreign policy it is sharing with the country.
According to his statement, the ongoing war makes Kenya look like an accomplice to Israel. He shared the statement on his official X handle.
“Kenya should reconsider its diplomatic relations with Israel. The continued bombardment of innocent civilians and children is unacceptable,” Kinyanjui said.
Aljazeera reports at least 10,328 Palestinians in Gaza who have been killed in attacks by Israel since 7th October 2023. However, in Israel, the death toll stands at 1,400 over the same period.
Rights groups in Palestine warned that people in Gaza are facing serious displacement threats as well as ethnic cleansing. 1.5 million Palestinians have internally been displaced across the enclave.
The US said it would not support a “re-occupation of Gaza” but that there is no returning to the October 6 status quo
On October 8, President William Ruto denounced the Hamas attack in a statement saying terrorism cannot be justified.
“Kenya strongly maintains that there exists no justification whatsoever for terrorism, which constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security,” Ruto said in his statement.
He further extended his condolences to the families affected by the intensifying violent acts.
Additionally, he called upon the international community to mobilize efforts to bring to justice those responsible for the attacks.
He called for a ceasefire to halt any further military action between Israel and Palestine citing the tension and suffering of civilians.
He urged both parties to refrain from further attacks and work toward a peaceful resolution to end the conflict.
