Senior Police Officer Kirumira Exits Uganda Police

Muhammad Kirumira who has been currently DPC in Buyende district has moved down as the District Police Commander.

Kirumira who’s resigning from the police force was recently charged with a numerous offences that include corruption, extortion and torture by the police tribunal .

The police officer is expected to appear in court on Thursday for hearing of the case

Kirumira said: “I have resigned from the force to enable the police court fulfil their motives. I now await an official message replacing me such that I can hand over office to whoever is deemed fit.”

“I did not agree with the decision to charge me in the police tribunal because I was framed up with all these charges thus displaying me as a criminal,” The former Old Kampala Divisional Police Commander explained.

“As a senior officer who has given in his whole to rub out crime without any special facilitation, I have come to my sense that my reputation before the administration will always be the same. Thank God Am Still young man, I have resigned to enable them fulfil their ambitions.” He continued.

He added,“ Eventually, when the court makes its verdict, I will put in my official retirement application to earn my discharge letter. I want to leave the police since its clean and I am branded dirty.”

Kirumira says he will never change the decision he has made to leave the police force.

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima did not comment on the situation saying he hasn’t got any official communication from Kirumira.

“We have not seen any such letter in our registry.”

According to procedure in police, even if Kirumira tenders in his resignation letter, it will not be acted upon until the trial is disposed off.
