KISORO: Security Guard Injured In Attempted Robbery

Earlier today, the police in Kisoro District together with the UPDF were still in pursuit of suspected gunmen who shot and injured a home security guard. This incident happened during a botched armed robbery.

The gunmen had reportedly barged into the home of a one Charles Serutozi, 55, a businessman in Bunagana town. When family members saw the thugs, they made a very loud alarm thus attracting many neighbors to their rescue.

When the assailants realized the quick reaction by the neighbors, they were forced to make an escape from the scene. During this rush, the gunmen shot and injured Ndagije a casual worker and night watchman. They also put Serutozi at gunpoint according to Elly Maate, the Police spokesperson of the Kigezi region.

In a statement, Maate said the incident happened on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:45pm. Apparently, three gunmen trailed Serutozi up to his home gate as he drove back home.

The guard reportedly locked the gate behind his boss and resisted the assailants who tried to force their way in. This prompted them to shoot the guard on the head.

After being overpowered by the thugs, the guard gave up and the assailants entered the compound. They found Serutozi still in his vehicle and put him at gunpoint demanding money. Maate said a team of police and the army immediately responded but the assailants had fled by the time they got there.
