The Jamaican will be performing at the much-anticipated festival on Sunday 17th December 2023 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The singer arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Thursday morning alongside his team and was welcomed by journalists and a few fans.
“Tuliwano, tuliwano,” the singer said while on an interview with journalists after touching down at the airport.
Known for his energetic performances, Konshens has promised to give his Ugandan fans the best of himself this time around. This is the fourth time the Jamaican singer will be performing in Uganda.
Konshens last performed in the country in 2015. This was alongside Busy Signal at Lugogo Cricket Oval at a concert. He had previously been to the country in 2012, and 2013.
It should be remembered that earlier this years, the High Court in Kampala ordered Airtel Uganda to pay general damages of $180,000 (about 670M) to Konshens. This was for copyright infringement.
In the case filed in 2015, the singer had claimed that Airtel, alongside Onmobile Global Limited and Mtech Limited, distributed his songs without his consent, and refused to pay any royalties to him.
The suit songs included; Gyal a bubble’, ‘So Mitan’, ‘Jazz Version,’ ‘Simple song’, among others.
The plaintiff contended that the defendants unlawfully accessed his songs. They then used them as caller tunes to Airtel’s subscribers at Shs600 per download under a program dubbed, “Hello Tunes”. The Jamaican singer had contended that by doing so, the defendants had severally infringed his copyright in the suit songs.
