Anti-riot police saved Sharon Kisha after abruptly landing on her while they escorted UMEME officials to Banda Zone B-3. They had gone there to conduct an operation against illegal power connections.
By the time police intervened, the said ‘boyfriend’ Joshua Chemutai, had allegedly placed a knife onto Sharon’s neck. He looked very ready to slice her throat.
According to eyewitnesses, Chemutai abandoned his machete in a nearby bush upon seeing the police lorry. Chemutai even attempted to flee the scene but local residents and grabbed him.
‘’Fortunately, police held him with the help of the local residents and later took him to Kireka Police Station,’’ a source said
A few minutes after the scuffle, the student’s landlady only known as Sarah arrived at the scene. She said she had previously warned Sharon for living with a man without reporting him to the local authorities.
‘’At first, when I saw the guy, I thought he was my tenant’s brother. But as a mature person, I later realized they were lovers, so I advised them to organize and see our LC1 Chairperson – Benson Nangabo,’’ Sarah said.
When they were interrogated, the student admitted that the suspect is her boyfriend, yet she had at first denied him.
On her account, she revealed that when she checked where she had kept her shs 500,000, she failed to find it there.
And when she asked Chemutai if he had seen the money anywhere, he instead lashed out at her and that is how the scuffle started. Later on, they handed the suspect to Kireka police to enable investigations to kickoff.
